Before posing the bridesmaids I scout the location to find the best light and as many as neutral background I can. Most of the time they get ready in a small, crowded room. If that is the case, don’t be afraid to ask them to go outside. Many times I had taken the bridesmaids to the porch (if there is one) or even outside when the rooms are crowded and dark.
Here is my take into my own must do poses:
Bride and bridesmaid w/matching robes (if any) and/or toast photo before the bride and bridesmaids get ready.
The traditional bridal pose. (looking at the camera)
A more fun and playful pose. (bridesmaids engage to each other. having them smile, laugh or talk to each other)
Last one for me is to have a more editorial and fabulous pose – turning one of two of the girls in a different direction or have them alternate their flowers
How cute are these flower girls…
While photographing group shots, make sure your second shooter is photographing details and closeups of the girls…
